Direct API Integration with NEDAP ANPR Lumo Cameras

14 February 2022 · 1 min read

The NEDAP ANPR Lumo is an all-in-one license plate recognition camera with embedded software, image analyser and IR illuminator. Its 2–10 metre operating range covers standard gate and entrance lane configurations, and the built-in access control features — time-based whitelists, blacklists and ignore lists — allow it to operate as a standalone access control device without a separate server.

For installations that need to show real-time gate decisions on a display — vehicle granted, denied, or redirected — the ANPR Lumo can push HTTP POST messages directly to an Ampron LED display. The integration is configured entirely inside the Lumo's web interface: set the HTTP endpoint to the Ampron API address, define the message content for each event type (access granted, access denied, unknown plate), and save. No custom integration code, no middleware server.

The message format follows the standard Ampron REST API specification, which means the same display used for ANPR feedback can also receive messages from a gate management system, a weighbridge, or any other HTTP-capable data source. Integration documentation is available at ampron.eu/api.

Typical deployment: ANPR camera at vehicle entry, Ampron DR Series LED display positioned at cab height showing the result. The driver sees a clear visual confirmation — their plate number, access status, and any routing instruction — without requiring radio communication or manual operator intervention. The system operates entirely in real time as each vehicle approaches.
