The challenge
The problem to solve
A passenger port operates differently to an airport or a rail terminal. The departure window for a Baltic ferry is measured in minutes, not hours, and gate information changes close to boarding. The display at the gate is the last touch-point between the port's operational system and the passenger — if it fails during the boarding window, there is no fallback. The physical environment compounds the challenge: Baltic salt air, Finnish temperature cycles from summer heat to deep winter, and the ambient moisture of a working port are not conditions that office or retail display hardware is built for.
The solution
What Ampron delivered
Ampron supplies P5 and P8 pitch LED information displays for the port's terminal and lane environments, from the Gen-2 SLDS family — sealed to IP65/IP67 ingress protection, rated for 24/7 continuous operation, and built for the full range of Nordic ambient temperatures and humidity. High brightness maintains legibility across large terminal spaces, while the modular format allows the display layout to match each gate or lane area's geometry. The displays reach the port through Visy OY, Ampron's exclusive Finnish distribution and integration partner, which handles local specification, installation coordination and in-market technical support.
