De-Ice Operations Upgrade — Additional PAD Locations at Tallinn Airport

Tallinn Airport Estonia
Project overview Expansion of Tallinn Airport's de-icing control system to additional PAD locations — adding stationary DR Series and LED video wall displays, generator charging capability and unified multi-PAD software control.
Customer Tallinn Airport
Additional PAD locations operational — stationary DR-2000×1040 and video wall display installed
Generator charging added to mobile unit — operations no longer dependent on fixed power point
Single operator interface controls all de-ice locations simultaneously

The challenge

The problem to solve

Following the successful deployment of the original deployable LED de-icing pad system (delivered 2018), Tallinn Airport wanted to expand operations to additional PAD locations. New requirements: stationary displays at fixed pads, generator-based charging for the mobile unit in addition to existing electrical charging, and control of all de-ice locations — mobile and stationary — from a single operator interface.

The solution

What Ampron delivered

Ampron delivered two stationary displays for the additional PAD locations: one DR-2000×1040-P8 rugged outdoor board and one large-format display built from LED video wall panels. The existing deployable mobile display was upgraded to support generator charging. All locations — original mobile pad and new stationary pads — are controlled from the same operator user interface, with the software updated to accommodate multi-location management. Delivered November 2023.

Outcomes

Results

  • Additional PAD locations operational — stationary DR-2000×1040 and video wall display installed
  • Generator charging added to mobile unit — operations no longer dependent on fixed power point
  • Single operator interface controls all de-ice locations simultaneously
  • Software extended without hardware replacement — existing mobile system retained and upgraded
  • Solution delivered November 2023 and operational for the 2023–24 winter season
