Passenger Information Displays for the Central Estonian Rail Network

Edelaraudtee AS Estonia 2024
Project overview Ampron supplied 26 outdoor LCD passenger information displays across 28 stations on the Central Estonian rail network — 19 dual-sided 49" and 7 outdoor totem 55" units — all driven by AmpronLED and integrated with Elron's live timetable feed.

The challenge

The problem to solve

Edelaraudtee AS, operator of the Tallinn–Türi–Viljandi and Lelle–Pärnu passenger lines, ran public procurement 278143 in 2024 for a unified real-time passenger information display network covering 28 stations — from major junctions to small rural halts. The requirement: one technical solution across the whole network, purchased under public procurement rules, operating year-round in Estonian outdoor conditions, integrated with Elron's live passenger information system, and backed by a long-term maintenance agreement.

The solution

What Ampron delivered

Ampron delivered as GoTrack OÜ's subcontractor — GoTrack won the tender as main contractor. Two outdoor LCD models cover all 28 stations: 19 units of the YT-S49F dual-sided 49" (4K, 2,500 cd/m², −40°C to +55°C) and 7 units of the YT-S55T outdoor vertical 55" totem. All displays run AmpronLED — Ampron's proprietary display communication protocol — which receives Elron's passenger information feed and renders live schedules, platform assignments and service updates consistently across the entire fleet. Following installation, Ampron and Edelaraudtee signed a direct technical support agreement covering the full fleet with defined response times, on-site maintenance and a spare parts inventory.

Business case

A 28-station rail network with manual or paper-based passenger information requires staff presence at every halt to update boards. AmpronLED eliminates that dependency — Elron's central feed updates all 26 screens simultaneously. At rural halts with minimal staffing, live information that runs without staff intervention is the difference between a functional station and an unmanned platform with stale paper timetables.

Outcomes

Results

  • 26 outdoor LCD units deployed across 28 stations — one unified communication layer for the entire network
  • Live passenger information from Elron's timetable feed rendered on every platform via AmpronLED
  • Hardware rated −40°C to +55°C, 2,500 cd/m² — readable in direct summer sun and low winter light year-round
  • Long-term direct support agreement signed with Edelaraudtee AS, independent of the main contractor scope
  • Delivered via public procurement under GoTrack OÜ as main contractor — standard Baltic infrastructure procurement shape
