Ports
Last-Mile Wayfinding at the Port of Helsinki
The challenge
The problem to solve
The Port of Helsinki serves 11.6 million passengers annually — the highest combined liner and cruise passenger volume of any port in the world. Ferry passengers and truck drivers arriving from the city need clear guidance through the last mile: which operator, which gate, which lane. The information requirements change at each decision point — from operator logo at distance to specific gate number up close. One display size does not cover all scenarios.
The solution
What Ampron delivered
Ampron proposed a combination of DR Series rugged displays and compact DS Series boards — different sizes for different decision points along the approach. Larger DR boards carry operator branding and high-level gate direction at distance; compact DS boards handle close-range lane and gate-specific instructions. All displays integrate with the port's guidance backend via REST API. Ampron is responsible for delivery, installation and lifecycle service support. Initial delivery completed end of 2020, with additional deliveries in 2021.
